Lombardini

The Lombardini company was founded by the Italian Adelmo Lombardini in 1922. In 1933, together with his brothers Alberto and Rainero, he opened his own production on the basis of the purchased mechanical assembly and foundries located in Reggio Emilia.

The decisive milestone in the company's activities was the 50s. The product range has been expanded with Lombardini air-cooled single-cylinder diesel engines. In the same years, the plant produced the first Castoro tracked tractor.

In 1963, it was decided to expand production, the construction of a plant in Pieve began, which today is the main enterprise. At the same time, the first foreign branches were opened: in France, Spain and Germany, which enabled the company to enter the international market. In the 70s, its own research and development experimental laboratory was created. Production expanded, ship power plants were added to the list of manufactured products.

At the turn of the century, Lombardini's activities rapidly gained momentum. It acquired Acme, which specializes in the production of water-cooled gasoline and diesel engines, and later became part of the American holding Mark IV Inc. This made it possible for Lombardini to end forever the eternal competition of Ruggerini Motori, which was also included in the holding.

The company is currently owned by the American corporation Kohler Co. Over the years, it has produced 5 million Lombardini engines. Now it includes 5 companies located in Italy, Slovakia and India. They produce over 210,000 motor systems annually. Some consumables, parts, assemblies, filters and other components are also produced here. A network of service centers has been established around the world, providing maintenance and repair of power equipment. Lombardini engines and spare parts are sold on all continents by sales representatives and dealer partners.
