The engineering and design division of the South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has completed a test for the official type approval of the latest generation of marine stationary engine CLEAN HiMSEN (Hi-Touch Marine & Stationary Engine), the press service of the shipbuilding company reported.

The tests were attended by experts from eight major classification societies, including ABS, DNV GL, LR and KR.

The HiMSEN (Model H21C) 4-stroke CLEAN engine (abbreviation for Customer, Responsibility, Environment, Acceptable Technology, No Defects) has demonstrated a 20% increase in power and up to 2% fuel efficiency compared to existing 4-stroke engines of the same class (H21 / 32) using high pressure combustion technology, while having smaller dimensions and weight (by 10%).

The engine meets the IMO Tier III emission standard IMO demonstrates a 98% reduction in NOx emissions and uses HHI's patented NoNOx selective catalytic reduction system.

HiMSEN, the best-selling medium speed marine engine, was developed by HHI in 2001. To date, HHI has delivered about 10,000 engines of this series, which is 21% of the global market share.

All engines are marinated and tested in Korea at the HYUNDAI plant, therefore the heat exchangers and intercoolers of these engines have a reliable and proven design for many years, allowing the engine to operate with a long service interval.

R series 200 hp (147 kW) / R200P

The electronically controlled common rail direct injection system CRDi delivers 200 horsepower. and 44 kgm of torque for the 2.2-liter inline-4 engine.

The CRDi electronic fuel injection system makes the R-Series engines cleaner by minimizing particulate matter and NOx emissions.

The engine design improves fuel injection and air intake to optimize combustion performance, especially lean burn stability at low temperatures.
