New ships were ordered by the United States Naval Expeditionary Command. NECC was created in 2006 to carry out unified actions, special operations and sabotage missions in river and coastal waters. As part of the NECC, the new combat boats will replace the 68-foot Mk IV boats and the 34-foot Sea Ark. In the future, it is planned to purchase 48 small combat boats of a new type for the needs of the United States Navy. Boats can be used in areas of military conflicts, in the pursuit of sea pirates, human traffickers. The main purpose is to control coastal and river areas.
New boats of small displacement were developed by SAFE BI on the basis of the multipurpose boat Archangel, which are quite famous today and are purchased not only for the United States Navy, but also for weapons of other countries. The boat has a waterline length of almost 24 meters and a maximum length of 26 meters. The power Mk VI consists of two multi-fuel diesel engines with water cannons and provides the boat with a maximum speed for long-term use of 35 knots and a maximum speed for short-term use of 41 knots. The cruising range of the new boat at a cruising speed of 30 knots is about 600 miles.
The boat is armed with two automatic 25 mm gun mounts from BAE Systems "Rafael Mk 38 Mod 2" which have the ability to remotely control. Several copies of 7.62 and 12.7 mm automatic machine guns mounted on turrets will be installed from machine guns. The Mk VI wheelhouse is provided with constructive protection, in which personnel will be accommodated in shockproof special seats. The new boats will have a large supply for the modernization and installation of special equipment, underwater and surface vehicles, accommodation of the wounded during evacuation and transportation, civilian and military personnel during various tasks.
